Sam didn't miss many weeks of lottery tickets in the past 20 years. On the gurney moving him into the O.R. at Roswell, he asked, ""Did you get the tickets?"" Sorry, he missed the $380MM MEGA payout last night.

Sam and I were hired the same day at the Dept of HUD.We soon became good friends. I was 30 years his junior and I was grateful to benefit from his seasoning. We had the same political leaning, love of sports and we were both proud veterans. Lunch time we enjoyed our walks from The Statler to main street often to Dubois Restaurant. His soup had to be hot and the table better not wobble. If I could remember his jokes and had his timing I could do Letterman. He talked often of his children he loved them deeply and was so proud of the grandchildren. I talked to Sam a few months ago he was at peace so happy his kids were doing well and to be near them. I will miss Sam dearly but I take comfort in knowing how faithful he was to his religion and how close he was to his family. May He Rest in Peace. Paul and Judy Wolf

I worked with and for a while supervised Sam at HUD in Buffalo. He was a wonderful employee always concened with doing a good job for the agency. Most of all I enjoyed his stories, and humor. He'll be missed.

Sam was a wonderful man and an inspiration to me. Through Jewish Family Services, I had the pleasure of driving him to appointments. We had wonderful converstaions about history, life and philosophy. Reading his biography in the obituary I felt like I had known him all my life. Even with his intence pain he maintained his sense of humor. He will be sorely missed and his memory will be a blessing.
