My deepest condolences and prayers go out to Steve and Earl I have known them since high school for over 40 years. They were very close to their father Red and mother Sarah and you could feel the love in their family anytime you visited their home. I was at their home many times over the years and was always treated like part of the family. Red and Sarah were so welcoming to me and you could feel the love they had for both of their sons as well as their guests. Rest in peace Red.

I spent an evening with Red and Earl last year when Earl reached out to me following the death of my father. I will never know two more devoted sons nor a father more deserving of that devotion. I also saw that evening where that irrepressible wise-ass spirit comes from that still lives on in his sons. But what stuck with me from the evening was a deeper current that seemed to be running through them both: the joy, The Joy.

I remember being with Earl & Steve at Red's work-- we were helping out a bit. Red might have been in his early 60s then. There was this big case of stuff, and I remember that Earl & I could barely budge it. Skinny little Red came over and just hoisted it up by himself like it was an empty cardboard box, and tossed it over.
The man was a bar of iron!

Nice to see the photo of Red the way I remember him....that i.d. band means he was having a good time with his loving sons Earl and Steve at an international fireworks convention. Last time I saw Red he was taking a much deserved snooze on my couch as the boys stopped at my farm on the way to the Fargo convention.
Bye Red....we will miss you!

Earl and Steve, I met Red in 1975 and Asa you know, was the CPA for the business until they sold. I loved his outlook and sense of humor. Over the years I enjoyed every meeting and the talking, discussing some irritation in the world that we never were able to fix, but we would end with updates about you 2 and what you were doing. He loved you and was proud of you!

Red was an odd figure growing up. Most kids fathers had jobs with regular hours and took time off -- this guy was always working. He worked in parts of the city other parents wouldn't be caught dead in. He was also an inspiration to respect other peoples religions.

Earl and Steve, I most remember Red for his strong love of family, his keen mind and wonderful sense of humor. He and I shared family stories and laughs together. To him, I was "White part of the plate, and wacka proud". He got a kick out of how I finished the food on my plate and how I laughed at his "Wacka Proud" joke. I will miss him!
