Obituary of Alan Wayne Valoris

Alan Wayne Valoris Passed away on September 22 at age 65 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Robin; beloved mother Irene; children, Henry and Michelle, in whose accomplishments he took great pride; brother, Michael; and brother- and sister-in-law, Harry and Betsy Manowitz. Alan was predeceased by his father, Max. Alan graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia and enrolled in the University of Rochester in 1965. He became Sports Information Director at the U of R and was an Army reservist before pursuing an MBA at the Rochester Institute of Technology and working as a CPA. Alan enjoyed sports, travel, politics, and especially his family. He served on the Executive Committee of the Estate Planning Council of Rochester, and had been Vice President for Finance of Temple Sinai and Treasurer of the Penfield Patriots Sports Booster Club. Alan retired in 2010 to spend more time traveling and golfing with Robin and their friends. The family gives their heartfelt thanks to the oncology team at the Wilmot Cancer Center at Strong Memorial Hospital for their outstanding care over the last nine years, and to the staff and volunteers at the Shepherd Home for their support and generosity in Alan’s final days. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 24th at 1:30 PM at Brighton Memorial Chapel, 3325 Winton Road South. The family will receive friends at 1101 Railway Crossing in Webster on Tuesday from 4-8 PM and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
