Obituary of Nicholas C. Russo
Nicholas C. Russo of Rochester, passed away on July 5, 2018, at the age of 75. He was predeceased by his parents, Nicola and Adolphine Russo. Nicholas is survived by his wife, Genevieve Reiss Russo; his children, Elizabeth (Daniel Fox), Rebecca (Michael King) & Julian (Evelina Yagudaev); grandchildren Georgia, Abraham, Tova & Nomi; several cousins & dear friends.
Nicholas was an accomplished radiologist at Rochester General Hospital for over 25 years following a 15-year stint as a radiologist at Geneva General Hospital. He briefly lived in Worcester, MA following three years stationed with the US Navy at a hospital in Naples, Italy during the Vietnam War. Prior to his military service, he completed his medical training at SUNY Upstate for medical school and University of Rochester for residency. He graduated from Harvard College in 1964 and Irondequoit High School in 1960.
In his leisure time, Nicholas enjoyed traveling to Europe, particularly Italy. He and Genevieve traveled extensively, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed bicycle riding in southern Europe and horseback riding in Wyoming. In addition, he and his family returned every summer to camp in the Adirondacks where he first met his wife. He was a lifelong learner, which included as primary passions adult education classes, The New York Review of Books, and Italian language films. He was widely regarded as honorable and hard-working by colleagues, family, and friends and remained deeply devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren.
