I will always remember Beth as a very loving mom who was keenly interested in all her children did and said. She fought so fiercly to be with them as long as possible. When Adam came home from school she wanted to connect with him even with the tubes. She explained in words he best could understood her broken tummy. She loved to cook and tend the small garden she had and multiple kinds of flowers. We shared on many levels but especially our faith and visited each others house of worship. As a nanny to Adam I have missed her cheery voice when I come in the house. She was always interested in what was going on in my life and shared her strong opinions but listened to mine as well. My heart was touched by hers.

As a resident working with Dr. Friedman for a few weeks, I was very fortunate to closely interact with her. I was truly inspired by her fight and her courage against cancer. Being a phsyician myself I understood how hard it is for her to be both a patient who suffers from such a terrible disease and a physician who understands all the details of her prognosis.I was inspired by her determination not to let the cancer win, her capacity to take care of her patients when she herslef needed care. I learned so much from her as a phsyician and as a wonderful, warm, witty human being. She was fun to be around. I will pray for her soul and for her family.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Dr. Friedman was a truly beautiful person. I brought my son, Aaron Fowlkes (then 12 years old), to her as a patient. He had not connected with his previous allergist. Dr. Friedman spoke to him patiently and respectfully, treating him like an intelligent young man instead of a dumb kid. And she made the connection we needed. I will always be grateful to her for that. As an aside, I really liked her, her warmth, her humor, her openness. I wish we could have been friends. May she rest in peace.

Our family is heavy hearted today to hear of Dr. Friedman's passing. Our infant daughter was a new patient and Dr. Friedman was wonderful, quickly putting us at ease with our daughters asthma/allergies in such a caring, honest, nurturing manner. Just a wonderful woman. Our deepest condolences to her sons whom she spoke of with a twinkle in her eye at our appointment, and to her husband, parents and siblings.

I am so, so saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Friedman. My son, Jeremy, was a patient of hers. She made SUCH a difference in his life. He had severe eczema and Dr. Friedman was the one who helped us get it all figured out. I am forever grateful for her care. She often talked about her boys and they were clearly the light of her life. A donation in her memory will be made to Kids With Food Allergies.

Both my son and I were patients of Dr. Friedman and each time we saw her she was so helpful and kind. She helped us feel at ease and made sure that despite severe food allergies my son could still be a kid. She obviously loved her profession and cared about her patients. She was amazing and she will be missed. We are sorry for your loss. She was very special. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.

I was saddened to read about Dr. Friedman's passing. We feel blessed that we found her nearly nine years ago. Dr. Friedman diagnosed our son with allergies and asthma and developed a plan that instantly helped our son. She was a devoted doctor who really cared about her patients. She also shared with us the joys and craziness of having boys, as we have three. Please take comfort in knowing that Dr. Friedman affected many people in such a positive way. She will be missed. We are deeply sorry for your loss.

I read the paper this morning. Mother's Day of all days and now I am weeping for Dr. Friedman and her children. I have been pulling for her and wanting so much for her to beat it because I could see in her how much she wanted to live and not let it define her life. She is and will always be an inspiration. I remember the first time I went to see her. She came into the room and went over to the sink to wash her hands and while looking in the mirror, she adjusted her hair. She said "oh, crap." as she looked at the handful of hair in her hand. I was shocked because I didn't know she was sick. She explained what was going on. I remember thinking most of the day and many days since, how brave and real she was and how I wanted her to win and be cancer free. Most doctors think they can't be people and she was so connected with her patients. I enjoyed talking with her about shoes, flowers and each of our kids. Several months ago her office called me to reschedule my appointment with another Dr. and I had a terrible feeling in my stomach. I was hoping she couldn't make the appointment because she was too busy sipping margarita's in Tahiti. I am so sorry for your incredible loss. She was so special!
My thoughts and prayers will continue to be with you.

Three of my children were patients of Dr.Friedman's since 2002. She was a wonderful, caring doctor whom we grew to love. She was so patient with my then 3yo son who was so tired of doctors, and she certainly won him over. We are grateful for the excellent care Dr. Freidman gave to our family.
We are so sorry for your loss and will keep your family in our prayers.

Dear Alain, Sam & Adam, Frances & Hal,
I'm so sorry we couldn't see you yesterday afternoon. We loved Beth so much, and mourn the great loss with all of you. Although we'd never met Kate, we immediately recognized her, she resembles Beth so much! I've always cherished the wonderful Sedar we shared. I'm hoping we will have an African Violet named in her memory.
I hope you are planning to publish all of her writings. They have been such an inspiration to everyone! With much love, Fay & Irwin Wagman

Dear family...
I am crying and at a loss for words. I stubbornly believed that Beth was going to make a miracle happen - as she had a few times before. I just learned today, we just came back from a trip.
I loved Beth, and I will always love her and cherish her memory. Bruce, who just met her once, understood very well why she is so special. And will always be.
Alain, my heart goes out to you and Beth's parents and siblings. She is - not was, is - the most positive, beautifull, wonderful gem of a person, a friend, a doctor, a mother.
She is.

I couldn't help but cry silently to myself when my mom called and told me she had read Dr. Elizabeth passed away. I had just been wondering how she was doing. I found her in the phonebook and she helped me with my very young daughter, Alyse, when no one else would listen. I found her to be a remarkable person and doctor. She was honestly the most attentive doctor I have EVER met. You didn't just feel like a patient when you were visiting her. I am keeping her family in my thoughts and prayers and hope they find strength during this time. She will be missed terribly.

To Alain, Sam and Adam, Drs. Friedman,
I am so sorry, so sad. I cannot know how you feel. I met you all so many years ago. I was lucky to see Beth again last year in DC. We enjoyed reminiscing about fellowship. Even then, in the middle of all this, Beth could make me laugh and smile. I loved her for that; I will always remember her for that. She was truly a beautiful and inspiring person. May her body finally rest in peace, and her soul be reborn again.

After having asthma for many years, Dr. Friedman put her wonderful "finger" on my problem and suggested an injection which is working well for me at the age of 77. She was a wonderful, kind and understanding doctor and will be greatly missed by many...young and old. May God reward her for her wonderful work done here on earth and may eternal reward be given to her and I am sure she will be a role model for many young people for years to come. Our deepest sympathy to the family....God bless her.

Dr. Friedman helped us through a difficult time when we found out our son Mason was allerigic to certain foods, she was very understanding and helpful with what we were going through, when we last saw her , she had determined he was no longer allergic to some of foods and had outgrown them before turning two, we were so happy. She was great Doctor and person, we will miss her. She was very proud of her sons and told us a couple of stories about them. With our deepest sympathy,
