Obituary of Shirley L. Wortzman
Our beloved mother and grandmother, Shirley Ruth Leve Wortzman passed away on July 19, 2014. She was 94 years old. She was predeceased by her husband, Israel Wortzman, who died in 1972. She is survived by her children, Marilyn Wortzman, Harry (Paula) Wortzman & Margaret (Steve Martin) Wortzman. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alysia (David) Thibault, Ashley Yunke, Jamie Wortzman & Leanna (Dan) DiRisio; four great grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Wortzman and her son, Harry, are the proprietors of Wortzman Furniture, Inc., a third-generation business, where Mrs. Wortzman worked for many years following the passing of her husband. Mrs. Wortzman was very active with Temple Emanuel in Batavia and the Temple Sisterhood and served them in many capacities, including Secretary of the Board of Trustees and President of the Sisterhood. Mrs. Wortzman coordinated the Esther Wortzman Memorial Fund for the Temple and served on many social event and fund-raising committees. Mrs. Wortzman was the Coordinator of the local chapter of the Jewish National Fund. Mrs. Wortzman was a volunteer reader at Robert Morris School and a volunteer at Genesee/Orleans Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (GCASA).
