Obituary of Marissa Pogal-Sussman

Marissa Pogal-Sussman, 26, of Brighton passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2014 as a result of a complication from a three and a half year battle with cancer. She fought the terrible disease with grace and was always in good spirits, all while undergoing innumerable surgeries and doctor visits. She graduated Brighton High School in 2006 and attended University at Buffalo. Marissa was loved by many. She was an amazing daughter, sister, cousin, niece and friend. Prior to becoming ill, she had aspirations of becoming a veterinarian and even traveled to Costa Rica with an organization to help spay and neuter cats and dogs. Marissa had a smile that would light up a room and was always quick with a witty comment to keep everyone around her smiling too. Even through her entire battle, she made sure to stay close with her friends and even made new friends too. She was looking forward to being a bridesmaid this upcoming spring. Marissa is survived by her parents, Drs. Meredith Pogal and Paul Sussman, and her two loving sisters, Tracy and Cassandra (Chris Gandia). She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Oliver; her aunt and uncle, Patricia Pogal and Ian Tobin; her close cousin, Brianna Pogal-Tobin; and her great aunt and uncle, Renee and Milton Kamen. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Andolina at Strong for the care he provided Marissa. Funeral Services will be held FRIDAY (today) at Temple B'rith Kodesh (2131 Elmwood Avenue) at 1:00 PM. Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 PM, Sunday from 1-4 PM, and Monday through Wednesday from 6-8 PM at 200 Heatherstone Lane (Rochester, NY 14618).
