Mrs. Whittaker was my frist principal at #17 School in 1968. Although she initially terrfied me, I soon learned what a talented educator she was, how invested she was in young teachers, and how much she influenced my teaching career of 33 years. As I think back, I realize how many of her ideals, standards for excellence, and commitment to kids I have carried with me to this day as I now supervise student teachers. Rest in peace, FW.
