While Irene had known you for many years, I became acquainted when we were busing to Montreal on one of the Woman's Council fall trips. What a small world in which we live. A casual remark of Betty having been born in Pittsfield drew us together immediately. Her Mother and the mother of my brother-in-law Milt Bass played bridge together in Pittsfield. While this did not generate a close friendship, we have remained in contact on at least a weekly basis. Wonderful.
The news of Betty's passing was a shock to us. Because of the desire for privacy and your recent move, we have not been able tontact you. Know we have been thinking of you and yours. Peace.

Honey Bloch called me about a half hour ago and somehow I knew (and dreaded) what she was going to tell me.
People often thought Betty and I were sisters and I think it was a source of pleasure to each of us to think that such a relationship might be supposed.
This is such a sad, sad time and my heart goest out to her wonderful family.
We shared so many funny stories and I'm already comforting myself by remembering some of the best.
How glad I am to have had such a good friend.

We are so very sad to hear of our dear Betty's passing. She was truly a wonderful friend and neighbor to us all and is sorely missed already.
