Obituary of Solomon Shinder
October 24, 2016 at age 87. Predeceased by his wife, Thelma (Bastansky) Shinder; parents, Harry & Pearl (Isenberg) Schinder; brother, Yacov Schinder; sister, Ann (Dave) Chester; niece Joyce Schinder. He is survived by his loving daughter, Nancy (Stephen) Levine; granddaughter, Corri (Ben Perry) Levine; niece, Sharon (Louis) Taxin and his 2nd wife, Toby Cohen Jacobson Shinder.
Sol was born in the Bronx and raised in the lower east side of Manhattan. He graduated Seward High School at the age of 15 and then attended City College, also known as Baruch School of Business & Civic Administration. He graduated at the age of 20 with a BBA and worked as an accountant while attending Brooklyn Law School. He was drafted into the Army, where he obtained training as a mechanic, then secured a position as an accountant. Sol lived in Washington, DC for several years with his bride, Thelma, and eventually moved to Rochester, where he practiced law with Albert Goldman, and eventually became a partner. He enjoyed studying & discussing the Torah & comparative religious histories. He will be remembered as a friend to all that crossed his path.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 12 NOON in the Rabbi Abraham Solomon Chapel of Temple Beth El (139 Winton Road S.). Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Jewish Home on WEDNESDAY only from 4-7 PM.
