Obituary of Robert Fayer
Robert Fayer, MD
Passed away at his home in Walnut Creek, CA on October 11, 2012, at age 81. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Maudine (Adair) Fayer; his daughter Dina; his sister Annette (Alfred) Stolberg; his sisters-in-law Bobby Jean Clark and Phyllis (Brian) Hole; many nieces and nephews.
Dr. Fayer graduated from the University of Rochester, in 1953, and SUNY, College of Medicine in Syracuse, New York in 1957.
He was Board Certified in General Surgery and he completed the following Medical Residencies; General Surgery, Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester; General Surgery, Genesee Hospital.
Dr. Fayer served in the U.S. Army, at the rank of Captain, at a M.A.S.H. unit in Korea.
After his discharge, he completed his residency in general surgery at Pratt Diagnostic Clinic, Chief Resident in Surgery, Tufts Medical Center Hospital. In 1963 he went to California, where he was issued a license to practice medicine. His first position as surgeon was at Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles, CA. Dr. Fayer opened his own office based practice, and had affiliations with three hospitals primarily in Orange County, CA. He was acknowledged as an excellent diagnostician.
Dr. Fayer ran the Trauma Center at the Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, Fountain Valley, CA, until it closed.
After retiring from General Surgery, Dr. Fayer relocated to Seattle, WA, where he specialized in Family Medicine, in Edmonds, WA.
The Fayer family enjoyed travelling to Spain, Mexico, France, Egypt, Israel, Italy, Cancun, and other countries, to visit museums, art galleries, and archaeological ruins.
Collecting antiques was a new hobby for Dr. and Mrs. Fayer. They went to estate sales and auctions on a regular basis.
Robert Fayer MD was passionate about living life to the fullest. He touched the lives of all who knew him in many special ways. He will be missed.
