Dick, Abbe, Michael and Laurie
Please receive our empathy for your loss.
Barbara was a friend of many years ago and one who had a profound influence on us.
Many hours of conversation were to my benefit when Mary died in 1975.
Dick noticed the food bill went up as I enjoyed many meals at the Peres table during that time.
She redirected my teaching when she was my "student teacher" in room 15 at Kemble School.
I am still not sure which one of us was the master teacher and who the student teacher was.
She had a gift for the classroom and a flair for the dramatic in her teaching style.
I am sure it had an impact on my presentations as well.
Try to have nothing but fond memories color your mourning.

Oh where do I begin? Mrs. Barbara Peres was one of the finest individuals that I've met. She has made such a tremendous positive impact on my life. She was my teacher, my mentor and friend and I miss her. She is with God now and he is lucky enough to get another fine angel. Heartfelt prayers, hugs and thoughts go out to the loved ones that she's left behind.

Barb was progressive, unique and kind and I have so many wonderful memories of the years on Proctor Blvd as well as during my visits home after moving away. I will treasure them. I will also treasure her chocolate chip cookie recipe...

To the Peres family.
Am sorry to read of Barbara's(Mrs Peres) passing. She was my seventh grade homeroom, social studies/language arts teacher at Roosevelt School in Utica- I believe we were her first class. I'll never forget that year and all the fond memories we had in large part because of her. She was a great teacher. A few things in particular stand out in my memory. The first was having curtains on all our windows. That was unique at the time and the kids from other homerooms would always enjoy teasing us about that. The other was the time she invited the class to her house for dinner. I believe it was Christmas time. It was a great dinner and something definitely above and beyond what a teacher does for her students-but something that makes a lasting impression on young minds. But that was Mrs. Peres! I'm sure she would be very happy and surprised to know that I followed her in the profession. You will be missed by all who knew you.

Barb was a devoted and excellent teacher and a great friend. she could not do enough for you and you could never repay her in kind without her doubling her kindnesses and generosity to you. We were very close in the years that we worked together in the Utica City School District and I observed first hand what an inspiration she was to the students she worked with and mentored. We also had great times together in Florida where Barb's hospitality was as wonderful to enjoy as it was in Utica . She and Dick made a great couple and were fun to be with as friends to my husband Luca and me . Our condolences to Abby and Michael and the grandchildren.

Hi everyone - This is Judy, your mom's Physical Therapist. It has been a couple years since I visited them in Rochester, but lost track of where to mail things. My secretary, Janice Ciancia, kept in touch, but her letters were returned also. I am sorry to hear the news, but know she is at rest. Hope your dad is okay. He recognized me, but was confused at out last meeting. Their apartment was nice and they enjoyed it there. I have many fond memories of growing up next door to the Peres'. Barb readily and willingly shared her talents with us. We enjoyed many of her wonderful culinary creations she would share. There were a few social studies projects she jumped in and lended a hand with as well. Always will remember the many summer afternoons on our patio or sitting around our kitchen table chatting with my parents. Rest easy Barb. We will never forget you.
