What I will remember the most of Barbara was her love for the children at the Guild, and her mentoring the teaching students and visiting teachers from other countries. She had remarkable work ethics, and was only happy when she was working on some new project for the Guild. I will miss her innumerable talents, but especially her smile. I know that she is smiling down at us from heaven! I miss you Barb:-)

We at Congregation Etz Chaim particularly appreciate the work she did on creating our community seder Haggadah, as well as her devotion to Jewish education in general. Our hearts go out to her family, and pray that her loved ones will find comfort and consolation in the days and weeks ahead. I personally am honored to have known and worked with her.

So many memories from high school; the sweetness of Barbara's smile. While I never knew Barbara as an adult, I know from the other memorials that she was a special, talented and much loved woman. May your memories comfort you in this sad time.

My most heartfelt condolences. I am deeply saddened to learn of Barbara's passing. Although we have lost touch, I have many fond memories of Brighton and Kent with Barbara. She was always a close friend and her kindness will always be remembered. May she rest in peace.

I am not sure how long My family and I have known Barb, but I think we may have met when she became principal of the religious school at Temple B'rith Kodesh when my children attended there, and she was a terrific principal. Later she left Rochester and a few years past by and one day I saw her at Wegmans; she had returned to Rochester to go to graduate school and care for her parents and help Jeremy with his education. We became good friends and even performed together now and then; she was a pro at the flute. I can't say enough about how helpful she was to my children especially helping my older daughter in college with some of her projects. . Such an optimistic and upbeat person she was; I don't think I have known anyone who had such spirit and hope and energy. When she would come home to visit from Baltimore, she would stay at our house, especially because she had such love for our dog, Vera, and Vera loved her. Late night, both being "nightbirds, "Barb and I would talk and talk and snack on popcorn. In the last couple years and even about a week ago or so when I spoke to her, she asked about my family and focused on everyone except herself. Recently I had sent her a picture of Vera which she was so happy to have, and she told me she had it posted on the wall in her hospice room. She had so much more to offer in her educational work and for all with whom she came in contact. Life is so unfair! We all will miss her so much. I hope to stay in touch with Jeremy.

Barb was a friend of mine when she was in Tulsa. I really missed her when she left because I felt so close to her and she was so personable and easy to talk to about anything. She left a great impression in my heart and I cherish her memory.

My memories of Barb go back to early childhood, when she and Susan (always thought of as a pair – “the Goldman twins” – and never individually at that point in our lives) lived nearby and we played together. Then my recollections fast-forward to high school, when Barb and I both played in the BHS orchestra. I remember her sweetness; she was always ready with a smile. (She was also a very good flute-player, as I recall.) We lost touch after high school and I feel as if I lost an opportunity to know a very special woman. My heart goes out to Susan, Jeremy and all those who loved her. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Barbara's warm and ready smile permeates my memories of her growing up in Brighton. The timing - during the Days of Awe, as the gates are closing - is honored and fitting. May her name be for blessing. My condolences to Susan, Jeremy and the whole family on your loss.

Barb Finer was a true Woman of Valor. We shared a passion for Judaism which she allowed me to realize that I can teach with that very same passion. She was my mentor for many years. I will always remember her zest for life and her sunny smile. You will be missed Barb, I will not be surprised if G-D chooses you for an angel. I love you.

I met Barb during a tumultuous time in my life. She was a true friend, devoted, generous and compassionate to me and my children. May Barb's name and memory continue to be a blessing to everyone who knew her. Even in her last days, she was positive, caring, and very much a friend. She will be missed.
