Edith Mazel was one of the most honest and open people I’ve ever met. In a genuine and matter of fact way, she spoke her mind about how she felt about people and things. With my growing up in the South and being use to many southerners “sugar coating” things, I found Edie refreshing and liked knowing where I stood with her.
Edie was an absolutely wonderful mother-in-law. She was understanding, supportive and very loving to her son, Michael, and to me during our all too short marriage and to me in the 35 years since his death.
She was a wonderful cook and entertained family and friends frequently. She was a strong woman who went out and found a job to support herself and her young children when life required it. She took pride in and enjoyed her work as an executive secretary. She dressed beautifully and loved to do needlepoint, attend cultural events, read and play bridge as long as her vision permitted it. She was a vibrant, fun and interesting woman. She also was intuitive and confident enough to go into retirement living prior to her macular degeneration becoming severe enough to make the transition more difficult. I have the greatest respect and love for Edie for so many reasons.
My heart goes out to Sally, Harvey and all the family in their great loss of Edie. Edie will be remembered with love by all of us.
