Obituary of Bernice Beckman
Bernice Beckman (nee Andelman)
Born June 29, 1913 in Boston, MA, passed quietly at home in Rochester, NY on October 9th. Mrs. Beckman had been a daughter, sister, friend, women's clothing store manager, wife, mother, and grandmother each of these roles enriched her long life. She was known for her apple pies and knitting - both of which she shared generously - and her especially close relationships with her husband, sisters and offspring.
For the last four years, she lived in the Kensington, MD and Rochester homes of her sons, Howard (Ellen Leopold) and Steven (Rachel Ritvo), and among her grandchildren, Liza, Emily, Renee, Louis, Alice and Micah. Despite Mrs. Beckman's ever increasing frailty, she remained a valued member of her family. In addition to her children and their children, she is survived by her sisters, Blanche Josephson and Dena Radin, both of Canton, MA, and her cousin, Cynthia Folit, of Florida. Mrs. Beckman was predeceased by her loving husband, Louis, her parents Frank and Fannie Andelman, and her sister Ruth Lubinsky.
The extended family wishes to thank their family and friends, the devoted and skilled caregivers, and the Lifetime Care hospice team.
Her family will be sitting shiva at 285 Westminster on the evenings of October 14th and 15th from 7-9 PM. Map to the house of mourning.
