Obituary of Murray Astarita
Murray Astarita December 8, 2017 at the age of 92. Predeceased by his parents, Frank & Kate; infant sister, Gloria; sister, Lucille & brother-in-law, Abraham Spencer; sister-in-law, Helen and brother-in-law, Solomon Rosinsky. Survived by his loving wife of 69 years Ann; children, Lynn Gatto (Richard) and Michael (Chi Soo); granddaughter, Allison and nieces and nephews.
Murray was born in 1925 and grew up in Floral Park, NY. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943, attended officer candidate school at St. Lawrence and Northwestern Universities and was commissioned a LTJG. He served on three Minesweepers for the duration of his military service. He worked at Kodak and its subsidiary Recordak in multiple assignments and locations for 37 years. He retired from Kodak in 1983 as the Director of Govt. Markets. Upon his retirement, he founded Micro-Pro Inc. which became a dominant regional force in the document/information management industry. The company was sold to Lason and taken public in 1996.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 11th at Temple Sinai, 363 Penfield Rd, Rochester, NY at 11 AM. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday 7-9 PM, Tuesday & Wed. 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at 5 Callahan Ct, Pittsford, NY. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
