Obituary of Darrell Cary Haynes

Haynes, Darrell C. Darrell C. Haynes, age 58, passed away on July 27, 2013, at home in Rochester, NY after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a native of California and graduated from UC-Davis with a PhD in immunology. He married Kim Egli of Knoxville, TN and they moved to Rochester in 1990. For 22 years Darrell provided technical support and medical instrumentation management for clinical chemistry, immunochemistry and blood bank systems for Johnson & Johnson Ortho Clinical Diagnostics. He devoted himself to his profession by giving support to his team of engineers and scientists. He supported Rochester’s music and arts and was proud to serve recently as a Board Member of the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. He will be remembered as an amazing husband and father, and good man to his community. He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Kim; daughters, Elsa and Rachel "Hanni" Haynes of Rochester; his mother, Irene (Bartick) Haynes; brother and sister-in-law, Dana and Kathy Haynes; sister, Darlene Polfer; and aunt Muriel (Baker) Bartick, all of California; uncle Daniel Hechtman of Arizona; mother & father-in-law, Pamela (Rowland) and Laurence Roberson of Oregon; brother-in-law, Hansreudi "Jon" Egli of Tennessee; nieces, nephews, cousins and a community of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack (Hechtman) Haynes; aunt, Thelma (Berger) Hechtman; and aunt, Helen (Bartick) Lutz. A private memorial service for family and close friends will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 12-1 PM at 1001 Penfield Road, Rochester, New York. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 11, 2013 from 1-4 PM at 1001 Penfield Road, Rochester, New York & continue on Monday from 2-4 PM and Tuesday from 7-9 PM. Graveside services will be held at Ocean View Cemetery, Ridge Road, Warrenton, Oregon Saturday, September 7, 2013 (arrangements for a time are still being worked out).
